What this table holds

The headers run 0 to 12 in both directions, so the grid is thirteen by thirteen and holds 169 products. The smallest is 0. The largest is 144, the same 144 that ends the chart beginning at one, in the same far corner: extending a multiplication chart downwards adds nothing at the top of it.

With the header strips counted the sheet carries 195 numerals, at fifteen point, inside 30 ruled lines, on one sheet of A4. There are 60 distinct answers among the 169 cells, which is one more than the chart to twelve manages in its 144.

PDF, PNG or SVG. The range is a control on the page, so the chart to twelve without its zeroes is this same sheet with the lower bound moved by one; the paper, the orientation and the blank cells move the same way.

The row of zeroes

Everything this chart has that the 1 to 12 does not is one row and one column. Across the top, under the zero header, thirteen cells: nought times nought, nought times one, and so on out to nought times twelve. Down the left, under the same zero header, thirteen more. Every one of them reads 0, and the corner where the two meet reads 0 as well, since it belongs to both at once. They are the only row and the only column on the sheet where every cell holds the same number.

A chart that begins at one does not carry that row, for the plain reason that nothing on it is multiplied by nothing. Its headers start where its first product starts, and 1 is the smallest number it prints. The difference this makes to the stock of answers is exactly one: the chart to twelve holds 59 distinct products and this holds 60, and the value that has been added is zero, printed once into every cell of that row and that column.

The cost of the row is small, and worth knowing before you choose between the two sheets. It is 169 cells against 144, and 30 ruled lines against 28. The type does not move: the numerals are at fifteen point here, exactly as they are on the chart to twelve. Adding zero to a multiplication chart shrinks nothing.
